Inside Kole: Meet the Kole Warehouse TeamKole’s wholesale merchandise shipping and receiving operation is one of the busiest in the business, and keeping all those packages of dollar store merchandise moving is no small job. Rodney Eason is the warehouse manager, and his world covers all 200,000 square feet of Kole’s warehouse. Rodney joined the Kole family in 1982 and now oversees the work of 40 men working two shifts from 4 am to 5 pm. This team is charged with managing the inbound shipments through 25 dock doors. His biggest priority: finding ways to move dollar store merchandise faster. Helping to keep the constant flow of merchandise moving in and out of the warehouse is a team of department managers who combined have over 40 years of warehouse experience. Weekly meetings take place to make sure that each department is aware of the current needs of the other departments in order to keep everyone working as a unit. The wholesale shipping department is supervised by Carlos Garcia who manages a team of over 20 people who are constantly looking for ways to ship orders as quickly as possible. New technology is currently being tested to push the order pulling team to new heights. The receiving department is supervised by Mike Rodriguez who handles off-loading of all incoming containers, verifying counts on incoming shipments, checking for proper carton markings, weights and all aspects of quality control. The restocking department is supervised by Jimmy Jones who uses new technology to insure that all areas of the warehouse locations are kept well organized. While each department works independently of one another, there is a cohesiveness that allows them not only to coexist, but to work together to continue figuring out ways to keep the entire wholesale warehouse running at a very high efficiency level. |
